Fees and costs

The 0.75% trading fee, NEAR network gas, the 0.05 NEAR reserve, account opening, and the cost of deposits and withdrawals on other networks, each with its source.

The trading fee

UNRLZD charges 0.75% on each trade that goes through. A trade that fails or is refunded pays no fee. The network still burns the gas it used.

The fee is paid in NEAR, from your trading account to fees.unrlzd.near, in the same transaction as the trade. How the 0.75% is measured depends on the side and the venue:

Measuring a pool sell on its minimum means the fee is at most 0.75% of what you get.

The rate is written into your trading account when it is created, and the account has no method to change it. The code allows at most 1%.

Network gas

Section titled “Network gas”

Every trade is a NEAR transaction, and NEAR charges gas for it. Two trades by a test account we operate, read from the chain:

Gas paid up front. When a transaction becomes a receipt on NEAR, it pays for all the gas it attaches at the higher of the current gas price and the purchase floor. The gas price has a floor of 10⁸ yoctoNEAR per gas, where it sits today; the purchase floor is 10⁹, ten times that. The gas the receipts actually burn costs the gas price, and the rest comes back within a few blocks. A trade attaches up to 300 TGas, so it needs up to 0.301 NEAR free when it’s sent and ends up costing about 0.003 NEAR. The buy above attached 203 TGas, paid 0.2039 NEAR for it up front and got 0.2015 NEAR back. Fees and gas works through the arithmetic.

The fee grows with the trade; the gas doesn't

A one-pool buy burns about 0.0025 NEAR of gas whatever its size. The 0.75% fee is 0.00075 NEAR on 0.1 NEAR, 0.0075 NEAR on 1 NEAR, 0.075 NEAR on 10 NEAR, 0.75 NEAR on 100 NEAR. Below about 0.33 NEAR the gas is the larger cost; above it, the fee. What a trade needs free

Section titled “What a trade needs free”

Before a trade is sent, the app checks that plain NEAR in your trading account covers the reserve, the gas that transaction pays up front and the fee, and stops it if not. On chain, the account refuses any call that would take it under the reserve, and NEAR refuses a transaction that can’t pay for its gas. Wrapped NEAR (wNEAR) doesn’t count toward a sell’s gas.

  • A sell needs the 0.05 NEAR reserve, the gas it pays up front (up to 0.301 NEAR) and its fee.
  • A buy also leaves room for one later sell of what it bought: the ticket keeps that sell’s up-front gas and its fee free, so a position bought here has the NEAR it needs to be sold. That is why N available in the ticket reads about 0.4 NEAR below the plain NEAR in the account. wNEAR you hold can pay for the buy itself.

What a sell needs free in NEAR

To send a sell of about 1 NEAR that attaches 300 TGas, the account needs the 0.05 NEAR reserve, the 0.301 NEAR that NEAR takes up front for the gas and a 0.0075 NEAR fee free in plain NEAR: 0.3585 NEAR. With 0.15 NEAR it is 0.2085 NEAR short and stops before anything is sent. When you enable withdrawals to other networks, your wallet signs a limit on what fees a route may take: 1.5%. A route over it is refused, and the app shows the route’s percentage next to that limit.

Costs set by the token or the pool

These don’t come from UNRLZD. The ticket shows each one under Route & fees before you trade.

  • Pool fee. Each pool charges its own fee.
  • Token tax. Some tokens take a tax on buys, sells or both, paid on top. If the token’s creator can change it, the ticket says so.
  • New token setup. The first time your account holds a token, the token may ask for a small storage deposit, at most 0.0125 NEAR. The ticket shows it as a one-time token setup.
